Hoosier Broadband recommends that you have certain equipment inside your home or office to connect to the Internet. Because the Internet is at times a dangerous place with viruses and hackers running rampant, we suggest that you install some basic equipment to protect your personal network.

For homes and businesses with fewer than 20 employees, we recommend a Linksys, Netgear, or D-Link router-firewall combination. You may use either a wired or wireless router, but we ask that you use WEP (Wireless Encryption) with a passowrd to prevent unauthorized user from accessing your personal network. In addition, we strongly suggest that you implement some type of a firewall and a basic NAT.

For business with more than 20 employess, we recommend that you use a more robust router-firewall combination. Products from Sonicwall, Watchguard and Cisco have proven to be solid performers in the 25-50 employee range.
